Quizzes built from words you actually saved
Generic vocabulary quizzes test words a stranger picked for you. My Vocabulary Tracker's quiz generates every question from your own saved words — the ones you actually looked up, from your own reading, work, or word packs — so every quiz is genuinely relevant practice, never filler.
Each round is 10 questions, mixing all four formats below, and finishing a round earns XP toward your daily streak.
A sample question
Meaning → word
Which word means "to use something to maximum advantage, often a resource or relationship"?
Four question formats
| Format | What it tests |
|---|---|
| Word → meaning | See a word, pick its correct definition from four options. |
| Meaning → word | See a definition, pick the word it describes — recall in the harder direction. |
| Fill in the blank | See one of your own saved example sentences with the word removed, pick which word completes it. |
| Spelling | See a meaning and example, type the word from memory — no multiple choice to lean on. |
Mixing all four in one round matters: recognizing a word is easier than recalling it, and recalling it is easier than spelling it — cycling through all three keeps a quiz from getting too easy once you know a word "well enough" to recognize but not yet well enough to produce unprompted.
Who this is for
Anyone who's added words but never reviewed them
A saved word you never revisit doesn't stick. A ten-question quiz takes under two minutes and forces real recall.
Exam candidates
Turn an imported GRE, GMAT, IELTS or TOEFL word pack into active practice instead of a list you re-read.
Business English learners
Quiz yourself on vocabulary from meetings, emails and negotiations — words with real professional stakes.
Spelling-conscious writers
The spelling format is the one flashcard apps skip — typing a word from memory is a different (and harder) skill than recognizing it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a minimum number of saved words to take a quiz?
Yes — you need at least a handful of words with meanings saved, since every question is generated from your own vocabulary, not a generic bank.
Can I quiz myself on just one word pack?
Import the pack into your personal words first, then it's included in your quiz pool along with everything else you've saved.
Is the quiz free?
Yes, quizzes are included free with a My Vocabulary Tracker account.
What happens to words I get wrong?
Mark them for extra revision in your word list so they resurface more often — the quiz itself always draws from your full saved vocabulary.
Quizzes work best on words you've already saved — start with your vocabulary tracker, or import a curated word pack to have something to quiz yourself on right away.
